Holiday madness

There is a Costco gas station near by my work and I've started getting gas there during lunch. I paid $2.49/ gallon so not sure if that is a good deal or not. Most of the vehicles getting gas there are Seniors who are technologically challenged or people with big SUVs and Trucks. I swear it takes me longer to get gas there than a regular gas station so I may go back to my old gas station next time. Getting in and out of Costco parking lot was a challenge during this time of year. After getting gas, I was planning to go in Costco and pick up some stuff for the party but wasn't sure if I can get out within 1 hour.
We had a retirement party at work today and he told an interesting story. He wanted to retire 2 years before but was talked in to working longer.
While talking about his years of service, he pulled out a measuring tape from his pocket and extended out to 65 inches and said that is how long he lived. Statistically, average male life span is 77 years old and average female life span ~85. When he did the math, he statictically has only 12 years to go so he's not going to compromise anymore and enjoy the rest of his life with his wife traveling around the world, go fishing and play golf.
I'm glad decided to retire and enjoy their life too.

Something new

After a year of the same webpage, I was ready for a change. I've only modified the simple stuff. Hopefully, I'll figure out how to put a banner on top.
Today is Danielle's last day of school so she's very excited about her vacation. We got her report card yesterday but not sure what to make of it. Must speak with the teacher.

Too busy

Last weekend, my old friend from Oregon visited and we had fun catching up on our lives. Last time I saw her was 10 years ago and we didn't have much time to chat. We've agreed to see each other this June in San Francisco or San Jose. This way I get to visit bulleye house too.
After she left, hubby started getting ill with body achecough, and fever. Secondo still has runny nose but is on her way to better health. I still have a head cold and can't breath at night. Danielle felt abit left out for being the only healthy on in the family so she was complaining about her throat being sore and forgot about it once we change the subject. I hope she stays healthy through December.
I'm so behind with everything that needs to be done before the 25th so I will be blogging less the rest of Dec.

Stuff

Remember Secondo started a fever on Friday? Well she's still abit warm on Saturday but she started coughing and nose started to run. We took her to the Dr on Monday and she got a virus that is going around. She's quite miserable, lethargic for the pass few days and just want to be held by mom. She sneezed on me several times and my throat is feeling sore when I woke up this morning.
Last weekend, I ended up wearing something I had in the closet for the Christmas party while mom & dad watched the kids for the evening. I wanted to bring the camera to capture the food we had but it would appeared too geeky in front of my coworkers and boss. Dinner was OK but they had an elaborate dessert buffet and a chocolate fountain with fruits, sponge cake or marshmallows on a stick for dipping. I had one dipped strawberry, small square of strawberry cheese cake, a mini fruit tart and some fruits with coffee.
I was not happy Sunday morning when our spin coach didn't show up for class and wasn't able to find a sub. Some people with their ipod continued spinning but I went on the treadmill and jogged instead. Next to me is this petite mom who was running at 5 miles/ hour and easily carrying a conversation with her friend about getting hair extension etc.. If it was me I would be breathing hard and counting the seconds before I could get off the treadmill. After she finished her run, she went and did real pull ups on her own and also abs on the exercise ball. I was impressed by her strength and she inspired me to strengthen my arms and abs so I can pull up my own body weight on my own. It'll take some time but that the goal is to do one to 5 real pull up by March 2007.
Back in High School, the females had to do at least 1 real pull up to pass PE and none of us were able to do it so the teacher modified the requirement to have a guy get us ladies up in the pull up position and we had to hold our body weight for 10 seconds.

Pad Thai review

Some of you may not know but I really enjoy eating pad thai. When I saw this box at Trader Joe's and the claim of 2 minutes prep time was enticing so I had to try it. I was shopping hungry and that didn't help the cause. Inside the box, there was 1 bag of noodles and 1 bag of sauce. I microwaved both and tossed them together and the picture below is what I got.

Hubby and I tried it and it didn't taste anything like pad thai that you get from Thai restaurants. Hubby was skeptical but I was willing to try many things at least once. I've made pad thai once and it didn't turn out perfectly but tasted better than this.

I'm a little annoyed at the moment because there are so many tasks on my "to do" list and I automatically turn to confort food to help me cope them.
  1. My key project is not working out as I had expected and time is running short.
  2. Company Christmas party is this Saturday and I don't have any formal outing wear that I still like wearing. It seems like eons since I've been to a nice dinner party where I had to dress up so I either shop tonight or tomorrow morning after going to the gym, alone.. ( May be Danielle could tag along and help me pick out something).
  3. Christmas shopping for everyone on my list
  4. Take picture of the kids for Christmas card
  5. Send out Christmas cards
  6. Get the house ready for my Oregon friend visit next week
  7. Come up with the menu for Christmas party for hubby side of the family
  8. Grocery shopping ( remember to buy brown rice!)
  9. Decide if we are getting a tree or not. Our piano has taken the space of our fake tree and Danielle is still waiting to decorate the tree. If we are getting a tree, the only space is in the living room and Secondo being 18 months, we're concerned that she'll eat the little decorations from the tree or break the ornaments. Sigh...
Secondo woke up with a bit of a temperature and cough this morning so I hope she's not getting sick again.
